Meetings for Discernment

Meetings for Discernment are periods of extended, waiting worship and deep listening to discern leadings and strengthen connections in our yearly meeting. The 2024 Winter Meeting for Discernment will be held in three sessions online via Zoom on Saturday, March 2nd. There will be a Zoom meeting on the evening of Friday, March 1st beginning at 7 pm for anyone new to the Meeting for Discernment or interested in holding space as an elder. Below are more details for each session.

Query for Saturday morning and early afternoon sessions: 

How do we nurture the practice of discernment as we embrace the diversity of belief, experience and spiritual vocabulary among us?

Schedule:

Friday, March 1st, 7 - 8:30pm via Zoom: The first half-hour will be an opportunity for Friends new to the meeting for discernment to learn about the meetings for discernment.  Beginning at 7:30, the focus will change to those Friends interested in holding the body throughout the meetings for discernment sessions. Friends will share their experiences of eldership and prepare for Saturday's sessions. All are invited to attend as much or as little of the evening as is right for them.

Saturday, March 2nd, 9:00 - 11:30 am: The first session for extended worship on the query above.

Saturday, March 2nd, 1:00 - 3:30 pm: The second session for extended worship on the query above.

Saturday, March 2nd, 4:00 - 5:30 pm: A reflection session to consider what we've heard and what we've experienced  in our sessions earlier in the day.
